hair dryers and house cleaning

Happy Friday, friends!

We are so ready for a weekend over here. AND… this weekend brings a visit from Granddad and Groovy PLUS Hazel’s 3rd birthday (and party). It’s going to be a biggie. (The weekend, not the party. The party is actually going to be nice and small. Kinda looking forward to nice and small!)

A happy thing: I bought a Groupon last fall for 2 hours of house cleaning and I’ve had it squirreled away for a day when I really wanted and needed it. Every time I thought I might want to redeem it, I finally talked myself out of it thinking I can just do it myself. But today – TODAY – someone is coming to my house to wash my floors and clean my bathrooms. This is a huge first for me and I’m beyond geeked.

Have y’all ever had someone clean your house? How many of y’all have someone come regularly?

Next Wednesday I’m headed to Blissdom and I’m trying to be prepared (on several recommendations, I just picked up one of these, and I’m told the other biggie to have is one of these.) Strangely, one of my final hurdles in preparedness is a new hairdryer. Mine still works, but it takes forever and I need to buy a new one for gym locker anyway. This is my chance.

I asked for recommendations on Instagram and this is what I got. I’d love for y’all to weigh in before I place an order anywhere. (The internet can be such an awesome resource for advice on things like this!).

Rusk Speed Freak – highly recommended by Rebecca Smith and Kate @ Small Things
Hot tools – evidently great for curly, thick hair and cuts drying time in half
BabyLiss Pro Nano Titanium – I heard this one a lot and that they have a great flat iron
Chi Rocket – biggest praise here was smoothest, shiniest hair ever
Solano and Elchim were awesome professional dryers

These were all (some quite comfortably) under $100. Some under $50.
I’d seriously love to hear what y’all think if you have a second!

Okay, now time to scoot myself and my Hazel out of the house so some very kind women can clean it for us. I’m thinking Friday lunch at the new crepe place downtown with my sister and Rowan!

Have a great weekend, friends!

Happy Friday, indeed! I have to throw in a vote for my tried and true Remington hair dryer. It’s a lot of blow dryin’ for not too much money and it has served me well. Plus, I think it’s awfully pretty, as far as hair dryers go. Bonus – easily found at Target.

I actually have the Remington to from Target and have had it for at least 5+ years and still works great! I think it is the best dryer I have had and my mom used it while here at Christmas and went out and bought herself one because she liked it better then the one she had.

Chi – all the way. It is pricey, but soooo worth it. You won’t regret it. Ulta usually offers specials for $50 off so you can get it for $99.99. Highly recommended. I had my first one for 8 years before it finally gave out and I bought new one. Then, I sent my old one back to the manufacturer (In Houston, TX) and they repaired it for $35. Now, I have a spare.

If a quiet hair dryer is important to you… the Revlon Pro Quiet is FABULOUS! Mine broke and I needed a new one, fast. When I saw this one at the store (Target) and saw that it was advertised to be quieter I decided to try it — and that was such a great decision! Matt (your cousin lol) can actually talk to me while I am drying my hair! I don’t feel like it’s any less powerful, either.

Good luck with whatever you choose!

Babyliss ALL THE WAY!!! It will seriously change your life. It’s super fast and has a great range of temperatures (I use mine to dry my dog after a bath and the warm is just perfect for him). It may be a bit pricey in comparison but is well worth the investment. I’ve had my dryer as well as the flat iron and curler for several years and they are all holding up great!

I’ve had the CHI for 3 years! I wanted to write it on your instagram but I was so nervy because its expensive and I didn’t want people thinking I was too posh for a target hair dryer, because I’m not- but the CHI will rock your hair-in a good way. AND what will also will change your life is having someone clean your house every other week:) it.is.the.best. DO. IT. and don’t look back. no more dusting, mopping, sweeping, cleaning toilets ever again!

I totally need a new hair dryer too! I always just buy cheap Walmart ones, so I have no good advice on that… but I’m excited to hear what you get!

Looks like I’m late to chime in, but I just recently got a new hairdryer myself after having the same old one for … like all time. OVER 10 years. I’ve always wanted a ceramic / ionic dryer for quite a while.. but it never crossed my mind that often. I normally dry my hair just a little to control my cowlic, and then air dry. (I have pretty long, thick but fine hair.. blowdrying made it frizzy, I like it to be more wavy / beachy.)
Then I came across the Goody Heat Flash – Ionic, luxurious looking, and marked down at our Menard’s store (hubby is a contractor, I get lots of contractor rewards to spend).. to only $9. (NINE dollars!) Ionic Ceramic Tourmaline.. sophisticated looking box, I thought, “Sure, heck yeah!”
I am in LOVE. It was worth many times that. It dries super fast, is really nice to handle, and leaves my hair amazingly calm & smooth. LIFE CHANGING!! Who knew? (Some of you, apparently!)
The Heat Flash currently retails at Target for just under $40.
On Amazon it’s currently selling 70% off with great reviews.

My only issue is it’s a little big.. I needed to make new drawer space, and this guy would take up a lot of space traveling.
I just returned from a trip to Texas last week, and actually left it behind.
I see you’re headed to Texas, too, Raechel! We were in the Hill Country.. I loved it.

Hazel & her jar cup are just too cute! Never had someone clean my house. But I hear it’s awesome. Hope her birthday & party were full of blissful memories!
