Confession & Caicos

Confession:

This is my child’s hand.

My son’s hand.

We were at Target the other day and I was looking for a good turquoise nail polish color. But, since my nails were already done (in Commander In Chic), I didn’t want to test the colors out on my own nails.

(Wait – I’m not the only one who tests nail polish colors out in the store before buying them, am I? Shoot… bigger confession than I though maybe…)

Anyway… I needed bare nails and there his were. All cute and tiny and fresh for the painting. What’s a Mama to do? He was very much a willing participant (though I think it may have been a different story if I had been hunting for a perfect pink).

It turns out they didn’t have the color I was after. (A girlfriend of mine was wearing this perfectly matte teal at our wine tasting and since I’d been hunting for the perfect teal I asked her what it was and where she got it. She said Target but my Target didn’t carry it. Hence the attempts to find a substitute by painting my son’s nails many wrong shades of green.)

Sheesh, this story got long fast.

Let’s wrap it up, shall we?

All of that craziness to say that the perfect summer teal nail polish color has been found and it is available. (I know, y’all are so relieved, right?)

Ladies and Gentleman…okay, maybe just ladies…I present to you:

Turquoise & Caicos by Essie

Aaaand, that was officially the biggest waste of your day so far. Sorry!

(Or, if you’ve also been hunting for matte turquoise perfection in a bottle; you’re welcome!)

    >Love it! Your posts always make me smile! I've never actually thought about testing nail polishes on my kids before (girls)….might have to try that out next time!

    >I've been looking for a new nail polish! I wore lavender two weeks ago but wasn't the biggest fan. And on vacation last week I bought those Sally Hansen strips…in zebra. Which was fun, but a little wild for being back in the office! Currently I am sporting a dark purple, but I'm looking for something a little more summery! I LOVE the color of that teal polish! I might have to try it!

P.S. – I think this comment was almost as long as the post! :)

    >Um, nope, you aren't the only one who tests out the nail color before buying. I do too. There's nothing worse than getting home and the red you bought is too pink or too opaque. I also eat a grape at the grocery store before I buy a whole bag of sour grapes. My husband thinks it's terrible. Is it? That's my confession of the day.

    >Essie is so great! Thanks for sharing. I have a turquoise dress for a wedding in 2 weeks, may need to see if this matches! Happy Thursday.

    >Definitely not the only one who does it. I do like turquoise s I might have to try that :)

I once got nail polish in Cape Cod that changes colors in the sun. It's pretty darn cool if I do say so myself. We got two bottles and I'm totally getting more next time I vacation there!

    >Weird! My bottle of Turquoise and Caicos looks totally different than this picture. It's very bright turquoise.

    >That is SO funny! Commander in Chic is one of my favorites, and I've never even thought about testing in the store! If i had, perhaps I'd have about 20 less bottles of polish than what I've currently got.

    Too cute Raechel (and Oliver!)

    >Ooh, I was eyeing that one at my Target the other day. I went for the lighter/cheaper Revlon color "Jaded" which is like the same color as the bottom of a swimming pool. May have to add this one to my summer blue polish repertoire.
My hubby can't stand it, but my 4.5 year old son gladly volunteers as a polish tester often!

    >Comander in Chic must be a popular color. You are the third person who has mentioned it in the last couple days and it's my go to color when I've been gardening and just can't get my nails clean enough!

    >YES! i was drooling after chelsea's color too! i heard her say "turks and caicos" but just thought with nails that chic, she must be referencing some posh vacay that she had been on. hooray accessibility! add this to my FMF tab of robspiration

    >ok i just went to get this at target because i LOVED it on chelsea. but then i saw the $8 price tag and when i tried it on it was SO thin. like chelsea must have put on about 3 coats. the less coats the better for this nonfancy lady. so i let the dream die and got a darker sally hansen color, mint sprint, for 4 bucks but it goes on mega thick. still pining for something turks-esque though
