StitchFix for my Mama!

Oh guys.

You don’t know my Mom (or maybe you do!), but she is great!

And cute. And friendly. And smart. And she makes really good homemade macaroni & cheese and meatloaf.

And she has a pretty smile.

And, she got tired of seeing me come to her house for lunch every Sunday afternoon in a different, new + cute outfit from StitchFix. She wanted to give it a try, too!

So… loving daughter that I am, I helped her get all signed up! We were really eager to see what StitchFix would do for someone beyond her 20s/30s, in a professional setting.

Just last week her first Fix arrived, so Hazel and I met her at her house at lunchtime and had a blast trying on her box-full of goodies in the context of her closet.

The first thing she tried was a little out of her comfort zone, but still super cute – leggings and a tunic dress by 41 Hawthorne.

After that, two big hits: a navy pleated blouse (that could be dressed up or down really beautifully) and the knit 3/4 sleeve blazer by Tulle.

Necklaces: Anthropologie + Loft

She also got a scarf with beautiful blues and greens (actually, it’s a map of Mexico) that we had fun wrapping up at her neck or tying on the straps of her purse for a little splash of color.

If you aren’t familiar with StitchFix, but want to learn more about the joys of keeping your wardrobe up-to-date with risk free, personal styling, here’s how it works:

SO… what do you think? What should she keep?

Show my mama some love and say hello!! :)

Your Mom looks great and you are so right about her smile!! The blouse is lovely and I really like the texture on the grey blazer. She is rocking both! I’m glad it was a positive experience for her. Hope that one day Stitch Fix comes to Canada….it is so what I need to expand my wardrobe.

PS – Any chance you can share that mac and cheese recipe? We love my Gran’s recipe but trying a new fave is always fun.

Lisa, The Mac and cheese recipe is on the back of the Mueller’s elbow macaroni box. I use dry mustard. There, the secret is out!

my mom was JUST asking me about stitch fix and I told her she should give it a try! her fear was that it would be too “young” for her – she’s 55. I can’t wait to show her this post!! Thank you!

Your mama looks amazing in all of the outfits! I especially love the blouse and blazer, but she also looks great in the tunic and leggings. Love the scarf too! Maybe you could trade her for the one she keeps borrowing!

Great outfits…I need to talk my mom into doing this. Every time you have a Stitch Fix post it makes me wish we were not on a tight budget and I had more for clothes in the budget. But right now just isnt the time to be spending money on clothes….bummer!!! But as soon as we get out of debt I’m signing up for Stitch Fix!!!

Lovely!! I do especially like that pleated blouse (love “basics” with that little extra something that makes them fantastic), and the scarf…those blues and greens really bring out her eyes! I think they’re all winners, though! Then, of course, you have to deal with the “do I get it all to get the discount??” question ;) I’m waiting for my fix next week, a bit impatiently, I might add…

Hmm. Interesting that several of you assumed StitchFix would be for 20/30-y-os. I’m 52 and just got (and loved) my first box. I immediately told my sister, and I’m thinking of getting my daughter into it… Anyway, I’m fairly recently retired and want to grow my casual wardrobe. StitchFix seemed perfect for me, because “casual” at 52 is not at all the same as it is at 25 when you can throw on any old thing and look great.

I personally love the tunic dress with the leggings on your mom. YES. THAT ONE. You will wear it all. the. time. It’s modern, chic, fabulously flattering on you, and I bet it’s comfortable as well. Depending on your office, it might not fly there, but to drinks on Friday nights? Shopping Sunday afternoons? Saturday with the grandkids at the museum? Absolutely.
