point and shoot

Hazel woke up from her nap yesterday afternoon around four o’clock, as usual.

Her hair was fluffy, her eyes were a little puffy, and she wasn’t quite ready to leave dewey and taggy (her pacifier and lovey) in Oliver’s bed (where she prefers to take her naps).

She was rumpled and snuggly and quiet – just like she is every afternoon at four o’clock.

Honestly, it’s one of the sweetest parts of the day – just she and me.

And most days we just soak it in.

But even a year from now, four o’clock won’t be like this. Her hair will be (hopefully) longer, she (ideally) won’t have dewey and taggy anymore, and that tiny, cuddly little frame will be bigger and older.

So yesterday, she came out of Oliver’s room and without thinking I grabbed my camera. And while she piddled around in the hallway and in the bathroom, not yet feeling like talking – I clicked.

No set up, no fuss.

Just point and shoot.

Thankful for my 4 o’clocks with my little girl. For her little yellow socks and her favorite glow-in-the-dark dewey and the way she likes to rub the dirty part of her taggy on her ear and her nose, then offer it to you in case you need a little comfort too.

Happy Friday, friends!

She is the sweetest. And you make me choke up, thinking about my little girl who now also wakes up at 4 o’clock every afternoon…but won’t be doing that for a whole lot longer. Sob!

Blog looks great! Love you girls.

My daughter (almost 20 months) is the same way! She’s so warm and snuggly after her nap and I just love it. She also does that thing with her blanket. She’ll sniff it and rub it on her nose and then offer it to me to sniff. I take that to mean that she accepts me as one of her own. :)
