Cooking Light Night

Posted by & filed under Friends, just things, Recipes.

Last night we had Zac & Olivia over for dinner.

Wait, let me back up – Olivia is a good cook. And she has been in a rut with her same old recipes. She’s been a darling little homemaker for a little over a year now and is ready to try some new stuff.

I’m a sucker for good cookbooks AND nifty iPad apps. I found the Cooking Light app about a month ago and it is AMAZING! Nobody from Cooking Light knows I’m telling you about this app and this is not any kind of sponsorship  – I just really like it and am maybe slightly obsessed with it. (It’s only $3.99, by the way – cheapest and smartest cookbook I’ve ever owned!.)

(yes, I took these screenshots at midnight-ish and my battery power was verrry low.)

Aaaaanyway… she wanted new recipes, I love to hang out with Liv, and I love my new appy app, sooo we’ve started a new tradition! Every week we get to pick a menu from the app (or really, wherever, I’m just sort of one-track-minded right now), she comes over Thursday afternoons, we cook a de-licious meal, and our husbands come home happy because the house smells phenomenal.

It’s win-win-win-win-win. Or however many wins. I’ve lost count.

So last night was our first night.

We made Spinach with Garlic Dressing, Pork Tenderloin with Peppers, Thyme Roasted Potatoes & Baked Apples with Chai Syrup.

The house smelled SO good and our husbands rose up and called us blessed.

Oh, and did I mention we get to hang out with two really neat people?

Have a lovely Friday, friends! Cook with someone this weekend! Bon Appetit!

I saw Ryan’s glass before I read the things you like and it made my heart jump a little bit, like oooh I need to catch that falling glass…so fun!

And how fun to cook new menus with a friend once a week! love that idea!

We LOVE Cooking Light! Well, I love their recipes and my husband loves the results. I found them the year before I got married and it saved my new husband from having to eat burnt or boring meals. Most of our favorites comes from them. Their light Chicken Parmesan is one of my go-to having company recipes and it never disappoints! We also love the Thai Chicken Saute. I have those two recipes memorized because my husband loves them so much!

Sounds soooo good, you guys. I’m coming over next week.

Also: We still use our monster plates, too! Our kids are not even trusted with big kid glasses yet. This might just be because of their mother.

So funny because before I even read the “things i love abt this post” bit I was wondering about the glass and had to inspect another glass and was still confused. Laughed at what O was eating and smiled because I could see sweet H’s smile! Love it!!
