What a difference a week makes!!

Posted by & filed under Hazel.

Can you believe that in a week’s time, our baby girl has already changed from this…

… to this???!!

Oh, Miss Hazel, you are getting so big so fast! Somehow you’re gaining weight and losing your baby puffiness all at the same time!

You’re a good little baby, and have already learned that night time is not awake time. (We worried those first few nights how long it would take for you to figure that out!)

You’re the noisiest baby we’ve ever known! Not a real crier, just a LOT of grunting and squealing. It’s endearing almost always, except when we’re trying to sleep! :)

We can tell you’re starting to focus your eyes on faces and in the past two days you’ve really started to smile! You mostly smile with your eyes, and it’s just so beautiful and feminine!

It’s taken a little adjusting for Oliver to figure out exactly where he fits in this new family dynamic. But, we’ve made sure to show him extra love and snuggle time to remind him just how important he is to us. He loves being your big brother, and one of his favorite jobs is holding your dewey (our word for pacifier) in place for you while we’re riding in the car. He loves his big helper job and you are kind to thank him by allowing us to have a quiet drive. :)

Oh, Hazel. We love having you in our family. It feels so good to get to say “kids” and “children”. Oliver thinks it’s fun to do things with the “girls team” and the “boys team”.

You’ve been with us 16 days now and already we couldn’t imagine life without you. Your smiling eyes, your squeaks and grunts, your warm, soft, cuddly body, and all the pink and purple everywhere… baby girl, you make us so happy!

(But could you please just stop growing so quickly?? Can’t you just stay small and squishy a little while longer???)

And yes, to answer your question, Nicole, I did make her dress! :)

    >Why must they grow up so quickly? My "baby" girl moved from Idaho to Nashville this past fall to attend Belmont University. She loves it there in your fair city, but we sure do miss her! Enjoy every second of your little ones because before you know it they wil be all grown up – seems like you have years and years but they sure pass quickly.

    >I'm dying here. She is so beautiful. First of all, the header pic! That face! She looks so much like Oliver! And the itty bitty baby dress is precious. It's fun to see her wearing and using the things you spent those long months preparing for her.

I am absolutely in LOVE with squishy baby girls!!!! I snuggle my own 3 month old so tight every night and just take the time to listen to her breathing in my ear, knowing this won't last forever! :(
